BISHKEK, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A concert commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held here on Thursday.
The event featured more than 10 pieces, including popular Chinese songs such as "Ode to the Red Flag" and "My Homeland," besides the well-known Soviet classics "Cranes," "Katyusha" and "Victory Day."
The Kyrgyz State Academic Symphony Orchestra performed at the concert.
The concert conveyed the friendship between Kyrgyzstan and China, said Rakhat Osmonaliev, conductor of the concert. "Listening to such beautiful music together will inspire the Chinese and Kyrgyz audiences."
In addition to wartime songs, the program featured music from modern Chinese TV series, such as "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and "Drawing Sword," and concluded with the household song "I Love You, China," which received rounds of applause from the audience.
"The concert was very good. For me, the piece from the TV series 'Drawing Sword' was a masterpiece and left a deep impression," said Nurgul Rymbekova from Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation. She described the event as a great discovery of Chinese culture and expressed her wish to attend similar cultural events in the future.
The concert, attended by more than 1,000 people, was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyzstan-China Friendship Society and the Chinese Cultural Center in Bishkek. ■
